Valentine’s Addendum

14 Feb

Valentine’s Day poetry for people who don’t like Valentine’s Day poetry.

[NIT-PICKY POET]

Roses are often red,
Violets are sometimes blue, but not always.
Please quit overgeneralizing.
Please.

[NOT A POET]

Row scissor red,
Violence are blue?
I’m not a good listener.
Poetry confuses me.

[UNCOUTH POET]

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
But I’m afraid you shan’t be getting any of them today.
What do you think I am, made of money?
Cause I’m not!
The nerve.

[HIPSTER POET]

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Valentine’s Day is too mainstream.
Let’s listen to some obscure bands singing about stuff that has nothing to do with love or romance.

[PALINDROMIC POET]

Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
Blue are violets.
Red are roses.

[FORGETFUL POET]

Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
Did I mention that roses are red?

[ROBO-POET]

Roses are red.
Roses are red.
Roses are red.
SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONING.
TIME TO DESTROY EVERYTHING ON EARTH.
Starting with the the red roses.

[DESPERATE POET]

Roses are red, and I’d like a dozen.
Violets are blue.  A dozen of them too.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN, THEY’RE ALL SOLD OUT?
RUN, FLORIST, RUN!

    My favourite Valentines’ poem:

    Roses are red,
    Violets are blue,
    Most poems rhyme,
    But this one doesn’t.
